- Joshua was stunned by Dubois, knocked out in the fifth round of fight last month
- His career is now in limbo and Fury has given his verdict on a potential match
- Fury will face Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch of world title fight later on this year
Tyson Fury has insisted he feels ‘sorry’ for Anthony Joshua on the back of his shock defeat by Daniel Dubois last month.
Joshua was aiming to become a three-time world champion when he took on his fellow Brit at Wembley on September 21, but he was rocked in the opening round and failed to recover from there.
The result left his career in limbo, with the former Olympian now chasing a rematch as he tries to salvage what is left of his career at the top level of the sport.
There are options for him should he fail to secure a second fight against Dubois, including a potential bout against Fury, but defeats continue to harm his reputation, with five now on his record.
And Fury, who has never faced Joshua despite the two often butting heads and was ringside for the bout, has expressed his sorrow for his rival on the back of his loss.

‘I feel sorry for him at the minute because he has been cleaned out in his last fight in round five,’ Fury told Sky Sports. ‘So he’s going to have to do that again, or not.
‘After every loss I’ve felt a bit down, deflated, because when he loses and it’s not to you, you do feel down and depressed about it. I felt sad for him.
‘I was probably the only person ringside on my side of the ring that was sad. It’s sad to see.’
The two have seemingly come close to doing battle on a number of occasions, and Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has claimed that a match could finally come to fruition depending on the outcome of Fury’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury, who lost for the first time in his career when he was defeated by Usyk earlier this year, will rematch the Ukrainian in December and is in desperate need of a win. He hasn’t, meanwhile, ruled out a fight with Joshua after that.
‘Yeah, I will (fight him),’ he said. ‘Whether he’s got five losses, 10 losses or 20 is not important. Because at this stage of our careers, it’s about having good fights and putting good fights on for the paying customer.
‘I still think it would be an entertaining and interesting fight for the paying pundit.’

Joshua’s career is now in limbo with it unclear who he will face next, though Fury appeared to be an option
First, though, the Gypsy King will take on Oleksandr Usyk (left) in a rematch of their fight from earlier this year
He doesn’t seem to have any plans to do that any time soon, though, due to his confidence at getting a result in two months’ time.
‘I wouldn’t rather fight any of them (Joshua or Dubois),’ he added. ‘I would like to have a trilogy with Usyk.
‘Because then it will be 1-1 so we’d have to do a rubber match and I’ll be the only heavyweight to have three trilogies, which would be quite impressive.’
