Two minor children sustained injuries, while four others, including the caretaker, had a narrow escape when a portion of the anganwadi ceiling collapsed on them at Dasanahosahalli in Bangarapete taluk of Kolar district on Saturday.

One of the injured girls has been identified as Lasya Likhitha. Another girl has also suffered severe injuries. The two girls were admitted to Bangarapete government hospital for treatment.

According to the police, there were six children at the centre when the incident occurred. The ceiling of the centre was old and was in a dilapidated condition.

S.S. Narayanaswamy, MLA, visited the hospital and later the spot to inspect the centre. He ordered officials to conduct an audit of all anganwadis in the taluk and take immediate restoration work to prevent further damage.

Taking strong exception to the negligence of the caretaker for failing to inform officials about the condition of the centre, Mr. Narayanaswamy ordered officials to conduct a detailed probe and take strict action against her.
