TTD board approves land swapping proposal with APTA

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu on Wednesday said that the controversial land situated at the foot of the temple on the Cherlopalli-Alipiri bypass road will not be allotted to private individuals at any cost as preservation of the pilgrimage site was paramount.

The announcement was made during an emergency meeting of the TTD trust board meeting held at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala. Though the TTD declared that it will not hold the customary media briefing after the meeting, the Public Relations department, however, issued a press handout mentioning that the meeting also deliberated on land transfers between TTD and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA).

The board approved the proposal to swap 24.68 acres of land already allotted to the APTA in Peruru village with an equivalent extent of land in Tirupati Urban mandal and accelerate the process of interchanging another 10.32 acres of land belonging to APTA in Tirupati Rural with a land parcel in Tirupati Urban, pending State government approval.

The board members who couldn’t attend the meeting in person took part in it via Zoom, while senior TTD officials like Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao and Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary were also present.
