Triple Treat on OTT: Threat to Theaters?

Triple Treat on OTT: Threat to Theaters?

OTT platforms are gearing up for a packed end to November with major releases.

Dulquer Salmaan’s crime thriller Lucky Baskhar, directed by Venky Atluri, will stream on Netflix starting November 30. The film, which follows a bank cashier entangled in money laundering, was a big box-office success and earned positive reviews.

Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi’s Amaran, a blockbuster biographical war drama, is expected to start streaming on Netflix on November 29. The film surpassed expectations, grossing over 310 crores globally.

Initially, there were reports of extending its theatrical run, but it now seems the film will follow its original four-week OTT window.

However, some speculate Netflix may avoid releasing Amaran and Lucky Baskhar within the same week. Things would become more clear in a day or two.

Meanwhile, Kiran Abbavaram’s action thriller KA, which hit theaters on October 31, has emerged as a success after several flops for the actor.

KA will be available for streaming from November 28. The film’s four-week theatrical-to-OTT window aligns with industry trends.

The last week of November promises a triple treat for OTT viewers.

However, some worry about the impact on theaters. With such high-quality films available at home, audiences might skip visiting cinemas. Watching movies on OTT is cheaper and more convenient. It saves time, money, and effort compared to going to theaters.

If this trend continues, it could hurt new movie releases in theaters. The growing preference for OTT might change how audiences consume films in the coming days.
