When rapper Travis Scott announced that he would be coming to India during his ‘Circus Maximus’ tour, all hell broke loose on the internet. Scott became the latest addition to the long list of international artistes who are set to perform in India. The tickets for his concert on October 18 went live at 1:30 pm IST on Saturday and sold out so rapidly that another show on the next day was announced, which also got sold out. The two shows scheduled for October 18 and 19 will take place at the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium in New Delhi, which has the capacity to accommodate 60,000 people.
Fans on the internet made fun of the booking process and said that the huge queue number made them remember their JEE rank. Similar grievances were voiced by the fans when Coldplay came to India. Their ‘Music Of The Spheres World Tour’ broke all records internationally, recording the highest ever attendance for a music tour. The band played in India on January 25 and 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which has a total capacity of 132,000, and more than 223,000 fans attended over the course of two days. They also performed at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai, on January 18, 19 and 21, which has a capacity to seat 45,300 people.

Ticket prices for the Travis Scott concert were ranged from ₹3,500 to ₹30,000 with several different options. Standing tickets were prices at ₹6500 and ₹15000 for the silver and gold sections respectively. There was also early access for Kotak Mahindra credit card holders.
A spokesperson from BookMyShow shared a statement about the concert and said that the response is not an indicator of the scale but also the rising capability of the Indian audience to host the biggest international artistes in their own backyard.
Apart from Travis, Guns N’ Roses are also coming to India this year, with their show scheduled to take place at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai on May 17. They had previously performed in India back in 2012.
