NEW DELHI: A three-year-old girl was pulled out unconscious from a 150-foot-deep borewell in Rajasthan’s Kotputli-Behror district on Wednesday following a 10-day rescue operation and was immediately transported to hospital, according to officials.
The medical team at the hospital subsequently pronounced the girl, Chetna, deceased, PTI reported.
The NDRF team leader, Yogesh Meena, reported that the girl showed no signs of movement when she was extracted from the borewell.
The girl fell into the borewell while playing in an agricultural field owned by her father on December 23 in Kiratpura village. The NDRF team had taken more than a week to save the girl from the borewell.
During the operation, special types of instruments have been ordered due to the hard nature of stones in the area. The mining rescue team was also invited to assist in the rescue operations. The authorities are hopeful of completing the work by Monday, NDRF officials said.
