Toyota India Innova HyCross MPV arrives at dealership displays ahead of official launch in January 2023

The all-new Innova HyCross has now gone on display at Toyota dealerships across the country. Customers can now get a closer look at tthe new MPV/crossover, and test drives will commence shortly. The Toyota Innova HyCross, which was officially unveiled last month, will be launched in January 2023, which is also when its prices will be revealed. The Innova HyCross is likely to be significantly pricier than the Innova Crysta as it brings new technology, is larger and also more feature-rich. Prices of the Toyota Innova Crysta start from Rs. 18 lakh, on-road Delhi. We expect the Innova HyCross to start from Rs. 21-22 lakh for the base petrol trim.

    Petrol-only!

The Innova HyCross will be the first across multiple generations of the Innova MPV to offer a petrol-only line up of engines. There will be two engines on offer – a 2 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol serving on the lower trims and a 2 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol strong hybrid on the higher trims. With a claimed fuel efficiency of over 21 Kmpl, the petrol strong hybrid is likely to be the hot seller, and is Toyota’s way of making diesel engines irrelevant on the Innova HyCross range. In fact, the HyCross Strong Hybrid is more fuel efficient than the Innova Crysta Diesel.

Diving deeper into the two engines that are offered on the HyCross, the 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine makes 172 Bhp of peak power and 205 Nm of peak torque, and is paired to a CVT automatic gearbox as standard. There will be no manual gearbox on offer in the Innova HyCross range. The other option is the   petrol strong hybrid, which is on a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine and an electric motor. Claimed combined output stands at 184 Bhp of power output, while fuel efficiency is a very impressive 21.1 Kmpl. The strong hybrid powertrain can also be operated in full-electric mode, where the batteries are capable of propelling the HyCross to about 40 kilometers on just battery power.

Toyota Innova HyCross arrives at dealership displays ahead of official launch

Toyota claims that the new Innova Hycross  Strong Hybrid can do the 0-100 Kmph sprint in just 9.8 seconds, making it even faster than the Fortuner. In fact, the HyCross Strong Hybrid is the fastest Innova ever built. Much of this increase in performance has come from not just the strong hybrid powertrain but also the new monocoque frame derived from Toyota’s TNGA-C platform. The new monocoque frame and front wheel drive layout make the HyCross a lot lighter than before, and this is a significant factor that boosts both acceleration and mileage.

First Toyota in India to get ADAS!

The all-new Innova Hycross is the first Toyota in India to get ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) – a safety feature suite that works using a complex array of radar and cameras. The ADAS suite on the HyCross consists of Dynamic radar cruise control, auto high beam assist, blind spot monitor (BSM), pre-collision system, and rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA). The crossover also gets Lane Trace Assist and 6 SRS airbags.
