Tourist Family OTT Release Sparks Illegal Immigration Debate Online

After a fantastic theatrical run and then gathering huge applause from the OTT platform, “The Tourist Family” is facing some criticism as some viewers pointed out, the film is normalising illegal immigration.

The plot of the story follows a desi family overstaying their visa and living undocumented in a Western country while swimming through situations in a comic yet emotional way. Is now facing backlash after the recent Supreme Court order.

But, on the brighter side many audiences are saying this movie from the beginning shows that it is a fictional tale, so no character or event is real.

The debate has once again brought up the larger question of how responsible films should be when dealing with real-world issues. Movies are the mirror of time, and as much as this claim is true that cinema holds a large value in influencing people’s perspective, we have to be mindful about the fact that movies are being created just for our enrichment purpose mainly.

Everything we see being depicted in the movies doesn’t have to be real, that is why before starting any movie which deals with real world issues they let us know that, “None of the events are taken from reality, no character is aimed to portray anything, this is purely an art of fiction” Or “This Story is based on real life event”.

As an audience we have to decide where we should raise our voice and where not because films like “The Terminal” and “Green Card” also tackled similar themes without such uproar.

Furthermore, at its core, “ The Tourist Family” seems to reflect the struggles and emotions of a displaced family rather than advocate illegal actions.

So, is the film promoting a dangerous idea or just presenting a heartwarming story with some reflections of reality?
The answer to that question is in your hand and where you stand as a viewer.
