The makers released a new teaser video and officially announced that the series, originally set for a June 11, 2021 release, will now debut on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, instead. With this, the show will break away from the traditional Friday release and opt for a Wednesday weekly timeslot.
“Marvel Studios’ “Loki” is here to mix it up. The original series arrives June 9 with new episodes streaming Wednesdays,” read the statement.
‘Loki’ is the first standalone series for the Avengers anti-hero that will see fan-favourite Hiddleston reprising his role. This is one of the many standalone shows on the popular Marvel comics characters that have been taking over streaming platforms.
Sharing his excitement about the show, Hiddleston said in ‘Loki’ will focus on the “never seen before” side of the comic book character.
“It’s very, very exciting because in many ways it’s the character you know, but in a context you’ve never seen him in before. And if I say any more, I’m gonna say too much. So that’s what’s so thrilling — there’s so much to explore that I haven’t yet explored. That’s very exciting,” Hiddleston told Entertainment Weekly.
Hiddleston made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Loki in 2011’s ‘Thor‘. He then went on to play the character in ‘The Avengers’ (2012), ‘Thor: The Dark World’ (2013), ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ (2017), ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018) and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Although his character met his end at the hands of Thanos in ‘Infinity War’, his character makes a comeback in ‘Endgame’ while the Avengers go back in time to the events of ‘The Avengers’ to retrieve the Tesseract.
