Mohanlal’s most anticipated sequel to Lucifer, L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was finally released in theatres yesterday and has received mixed responses from audiences.
L2: Empuraan was projected as the first big-ticket pan-Indian movie from Mollywood and had huge expectations among audiences. However, it failed to meet those expectations and is receiving average responses.

Social media users, after watching the movie, have stated that Lucifer was a well-made, rooted political thriller, but Prithviraj focused only on the filmmaking in the sequel and did not concentrate on developing an appealing story.
Apart from audience criticisms, even many critics have mentioned that L2: Empuraan drags in many places. Additionally, Prithviraj’s approach of portraying a mafia gang as good people is not convincing.

According to reports, after the average response to the movie, bookings for the weekend have dipped in many places.
Despite having a blockbuster opening, Prithviraj lost the opportunity for pan-Indian success by delivering a mediocre film. It remains to be seen how L2: Empuraan will perform at the box office in the coming days.
