Political parties opposed the release of the film and even threatened actions against the theatres where it would be screened. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray claimed that the movie will not be released in his state.
Thackeray believes the film coming out so close to the Navratri festival will become a reason for conflict in the country. He further requested the government to impose a nationwide ban citing Pakistan has also done the same to Indian films.
