Salim-Javed, the iconic duo that ruled the 1970s and 80s era of Bollywood are ready to come to the small screens. This time rather than a fictional tale created by them, we will witness their very own true story. The rise to their glory and how they made their mark in the industry will be brought to life in a documentary series. They are the writers behind countless iconic dialogues and movies like Zanjeer, Sholay, Kala Pathar and Trishul.

The docu-series is called Angry Young Man, named after the prototype hero they created in their golden era, it brought actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha to immense fame. The series is produced by Salma Khan, Salman Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Reema Kagti, Farhan and Zoya Akhtar. It will be released on Amazon Prime Video India on 20 August. It is interesting that the children of the two writers have taken up the venture of bringing their parents’ story to screen.

All behind the screen challenges and moments will be available to the fans with the release of this series. The docu-series format will make it more realistic and true to life. We are yet to see a trailer and witness critics’ review. How effectively the series brings the true story of the world-class duo on screen will only be known after 20 August. The cult of cinema lovers as we know them today has been deeply influenced by Salim-Javed, Angry Young Man can be the ideal tribute to their career and contribution in the industry.
