The Telangana Gurukula Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) has announced an initiative aimed at equipping students from marginalised communities with the skills and knowledge required to excel in highly competitive entrance exams.
Under this new plan, foundation courses will be introduced from Class VIII to prepare students for exams such as IIT-JEE, NEET, CLAT, CUET, and UPSC. The initiative builds upon the success of TGSWREIS’s Centre of Excellence (COE) institutions in Gowlidoddy and Karimnagar, which have consistently produced top-ranking students.
Dr V. S. Alagu Varshini, Secretary of TGSWREIS, has outlined an expansion strategy to replicate this model across the State. Plans are in place to establish ten more COE colleges, providing high-quality coaching and resources to a larger number of students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Students enrolled in the foundation courses will receive structured training, including weekend tests, regular assessments and personalised counselling sessions. A rigorous micro-scheduling system will be implemented to ensure comprehensive preparation. The courses will be taught by expert faculty with specialised experience in coaching for entrance exams.
Admission to the foundation courses will be merit-based, with an entrance test conducted for students entering the 8th grade in the 2025–26 academic year. Those who qualify will gain access to intensive training modules designed to sharpen their skills and improve their chances of securing places in prestigious institutions.
Dr Alagu Varshini expressed confidence that the initiative would be a ‘game-changer’ for students from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. By providing world-class coaching at an early stage, the programme aims to bridge the educational gap and empower students to compete at the national level.
