Naomi Osaka has raised some eyebrows at the US Open due to her outfit of choice for her first round match, as many fans compared her to Tinkerbell on social media.

The 26-year-old, four-time Grand Slam winner – ranked No. 88 in the world – showed up to Tuesday’s game against No. 10 Jelena Ostapenko, of Austria, in a light green Nike top and skirt with frills, which were tied together with a rather large white bow.

In warm-ups, Osaka wore a white jacket with a big green bow and a white tutu but took both pieces of clothing off before defeating her opponent, 6-3 6-2.

Osaka also had small green bows tied to the rear end of her white-and-green Nike sneakers.

‘Bowing to the Queen of Fashion, @naomiosaka,’ the US Open’s official X account shared along with footage of the Japanese tennis star and a bow emoji.

Most fans also seemed to love Osaka’s outfit on social media.

‘Love the attention to detail and style,’ a person pointed out.

‘Naomi Osaka’s #USOpen day kit. ok Tinker Bell,’ shared another.

‘So Pretty!’ someone else said, to which a different user echoed: ‘Keep changing the game!’

However, a few spectators weren’t blow away by Osaka’s originality at this year’s edition of the Grand Slam tournament.

‘I have something similar in the back of my closet with the other bridesmaids dresses from the 90s,’ said a user on X. ‘The @nike shoes tho are fabulous!’

‘Naomi Oaska, we won’t hold your outfit against you, because you played beautifully today against a dangerous Jelena Ostapenko,’ wrote another.

‘Honestly can’t tell if I love or hate this outfit from Naomi Osaka which I think means that I both love and it,’ someone else shared.

‘Hey look at me! Wonder how that helps her anxiety,’ a user noted, referring to the two-time US Open champion’s previous battles with stress.

Osaka will face No. 52 Karolina Muchova, of the Czech Republic, in the second round on Thursday.
