A techie’s recent relocation from Bengaluru to the United Kingdom has highlighted the vast difference in tech-related jobs between both nations.
Sharing his experience on X, the techie wrote about the passion of employees in the UK’s tech world. He said that while money is the primary motive of the Indian employee, an employee in the UK is driven by money as well as the ‘love for the game’.

His exact words were, “While I ended up doing something super cliched, I learnt a lot about the tech culture here in that time…
…The more people I have gotten acquainted with in the tech circles here, the more I have noticed – in general mostly people do this from a ‘love of the game’ perspective. Also unlike India, tech here doesn’t pay 10-20x of literally every other job.”

He further explained that tech jobs were considered as any other job in the UK, with their pay also being equivalent, unlike India.
He wrote, “There is credible, good quality, cutting edge, demanding work in software engineering, that is done from 8LPA to 150LPA range…

…This is just in the product engineering space, just for IC comps. In the 20-35 age group itself. This variance has its toxicity cost.”
He concluded with some positives about India, saying that the number of jobs here outweighs any other country, excluding just the US.
