The successors of the Google Pixel 7 series are expected to launch in October this year. And before the official launch, Google Pixel 8 series has been in the news for several leaks and reveals by media reports. In the latest update, Android Authority leaked the UI changes that could possibly make it to the camera app of the upcoming Pixel phones.
As per the report, the camera UI has remained unchanged since the launch of Google Pixel 4. But this could change with the debut of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. Starting with the changes, the video and photo modes’ new separation is visible in the screengrab, which are combined in the carousel in the current series. The switch under mode selection may allow a user to select the type of content to shoot.
The second change user might see may be the changed position of the camera switch and the gallery view button. Plus, opposite to the current mechanism, the settings menu may appear after a user swipe up from the bottom. The setting box’s placement remains unchanged. The same action could be achieved by tapping the settings icon on the left.
Google may reshuffle the modes to let users know about them. The ‘Motion’ may be bifurcated into ‘Action Plan’ and ‘Long Exposure’. They existed in the previous app also but in a combined tab. The ‘Cinematic Pan’ may get renamed to ‘Pan’. Further, new stabilisation modes Standard, Locked and Active in the pop-up menu may replace the old modes.
Coming to the expected camera specifications, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro may get an upgraded 50MP Samsung GN2 sensor on the back, the report added. Further, the Pro could have a 64MP ultra-wide lens. As for more updates, the ‘Audio Magic Eraser’ that could debut on the upcoming handsets leaked in a video on X (formerly Twitter). You can read more about this here.
