Income Tax Department has sent a demand notice to 30,000 – 40,000 employees of Tata Consultancy Services or TCS all of a sudden. They have demanded tax ranging from 50,000 to 1 lakh based on the seniority of employment. This sudden demand has come as a shock to many of the employees who have been paying their taxes regularly.
Actually, this is a becat of the glitch of the software due to which TDS claims were not reported on the income tax portal. Even the TDS claimed by the individuals is not being processed as there is no proper record on the portal. TCS and the Tax Department are in contact and they are trying to sort this issue. The employees have been reassured that the discrepancy will be sorted as soon as the reprocessing of the returns is completed.

But the situation of the panic at the beginning was really pressuring for the employees. TCS has denied to make any official comment about the whole incident. No one is sure who was at fault for this blunder. TCS is a trusted name and a government agency like the Tax Department is not expected to make such a big blunder. The employees are hoping for a speedy resolution of the whole situation.
