One of India’s biggest piracy websites, TamilRockers has revealed how they illegally record and distribute films on the internet.
Jeb Stephen Raj, a 33-year-old from Madurai who was involved with TamilRockers, was arrested by the Kerala Cyber Crime Branch earlier this year in July. He was caught in Thiruvananthapuram while secretly recording Dhanush’s 50th movie, Raayan.

During the investigation, Raj confessed how he and his team recorded movies. His method was to book five tickets on opening day with the person in the middle covering himself with the blanket, hiding a camera underneath it.
Tamil Rockers have been a major problem for the industry as they leak new movies just hours after their release, affecting their box office collection. Even though the authorities have been on the lookout for a long time Raj is the only arrest that they have made so far.

The accused further revealed that he was paid ₹5000 for each film he recorded. If he was part of a group, it raises questions about why there haven’t been more arrests since Raj was caught four months ago.
Amidst all this, the piracy network is still running without interruption. Rajnikanth’s latest film Vettaiyan was the latest victim as it became available on such sites the same day it was released.
