The Indian men’s cricket team has left for Hangzhou (China) for their Asian Games debut. India will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad during the continental event as they look to emulate their women counterpart who won a historic gold last week when they beat Sri Lanka in the final.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) shared few pictures on X (formerly Twitter) from the team’s departure as they were given a warm send-off.

The team comprises rising stars including Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh among others.

The Indian women’s cricket team produced a stellar show on their Games debut as they brushed aside Bangladesh to make it to the gold medal clash.
India were without captain Harmanpreet Kaur for their quarterfinal and semifinal contests as she served a two-match ban for breaking ICC code.
However, their quarterfinal clash against Malaysia was washed out due to rain after they posted 173/2 after the match was shortened to 15 overs per side. Malaysia were 1/0 in 0.2 overs when rain returned and eventually the game was abandoned as India progressed ahead due to their better rankings.

In the semifinal, India skittled Bangladesh for just 51 in 17.5 overs before chasing down the low target in 8.2 overs to make it to the final.
Sri Lanka though offered a tough fight on a challenging pitch. India posted 116/7 in 20 overs and then their bowlers applied the choke to limit their opponents to 97/8 to win by 19 runs.
