Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Gurucharan Singh stirred a storm after he went missing last month. His concerned parents had filed an FIR after he did not return home and was missing since April 22. A kidnapping case was also reportedly filed in the matter. However, nearly a month after going off the radar, Gurucharan Singh is back home, reports India Today.
Upon his arrival, the actor was interrogated by officials and he revealed that he had left his ‘worldly life for a religious journey’. The report further mentioned a cop’s revelation, who stated that in the past few days, the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor visited several Gurudwaras in Amritsar and Ludhiana but eventually it dawned upon him that he should return home. According to the report, the cops also discovered that Singh was a devotee of a sect known for its meditation practices, and he had expressed interest in journeying to the Himalayas for meditation purposes.
The controversy about Gurucharan Singh’s missing emerged after the actor did not take his scheduled flight from Delhi to Mumbai. Mystery shrouded his disappearance as his phone remained active until April 24, and several financial transactions were traced by the cops. Following his disappearance, his father, Hargit Singh, lodged a missing complaint on April 26, leading to the registration of an FIR under Section 365 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
During the probe it was also revealed that Gurucharan Singh faced financial issues and had to pay back several loans. Reacting to the same, the actor’s father, Hargit Singh had told BT, “I had no idea about my son’s financial situation. He never told me anything about it. So I am not aware of all this. I am sure if the police have found something, they would inform me.”
Gurucharan rose to fame portraying the happy-go-lucky character of Roshan Singh Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. After emerging as a household name as the loveable Sodhi, he left the show in 2013, only to make a comeback the following year. However, his final exit from the show took place in 2020.
