As of 2022, there are about 4.8 million Indian Americans, making up 20% of the Asian American population. Of these, 66% are immigrants and 34% were born in the U.S.

Half of Indian Americans live in California (20%), Texas (12%), New Jersey (9%), and New York (7%).

Nearly half (48%) of Indian Americans feel they are on their way to achieving the American dream, while 27% believe they have already achieved it. Religion is important, with 48% identifying as Hindu, 15% as Christian, 15% as religiously unaffiliated, and 8% as Muslim.
