Star Heroine Kangana Ranaut’s Controversial Film Emergency Clears Censor Hurdles

Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is coming with her new film Emergency, which is based on the controversial Emergency period of India under the rule of Indira Gandhi. Kangana played the role of Gandhi in it. Apart from acting in the film, Kangana also directed and produced the project.

It was originally slated for release on September 6 but was postponed due to the objections raised by the Censor Board For Film Certification (CBFC). On top of it, a few Sikh organisations also demanded to ban the film alleging the misrepresentation of the historical facts.

Kangana also accused CBFC of delaying the certification due to a hidden political agenda and alleged that the delay might be linked to the Haryana Assembly Elections.

Eventually, the film was censored by the board and the release date will be announced officially soon. Sharing the news on social media, Kangana’s team wrote, “We are glad to announce we have received the censor certificate for our movie Emergency, we will be announcing the release date soon. Thank you for your patience and support.”
