Thalapathy Vijay’s latest film, The Greatest Of All Time, also known as GOAT, has hit theaters, but it hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, this action-packed movie with sci-fi elements has received mixed reviews in Tamil and negative feedback in other languages.

The film attempts to pay tribute to iconic figures and pop culture, featuring several notable references.
Vijay mimics Shah Rukh Khan’s famous romantic pose in one scene, and the movie includes a nod to Rajinikanth with a background score from the film Padaiyappa. It also features a reused song from Rajinikanth’s older movie, adding another layer of homage.

A highlight of GOAT is the appearance of Trisha Krishnan, who joins Vijay for a dance number, reviving moments from their previous collaborations. Additionally, there’s a playful reference to Mahesh Babu’s film Okkadu when Yogi Babu’s character remarks on Vijay’s past roles.
Despite these efforts to connect with fans through familiar and beloved elements, the film struggles to impress.

It features a lengthy runtime, with a first half that is only average and a second half that improves slightly but doesn’t rescue the overall experience.
The ambitious attempt to integrate so many nostalgic touches hasn’t been enough to make GOAT stand out as the “greatest” it aims to be.
It might achieve a 100 crore gross worldwide on its opening day, but its box office prospects look uncertain, except for Tamil Nadu.
