Sergio Camello netted twice off the bench in extra-time to clinch a dramatic victory and secure gold for Spain in the men’s Olympic final.

Enzo Millot got the hosts off to the perfect start at the Parc des Princes, capitalising on a poor clearance to net the opener after 11 minutes.

Michael Olise missed a chance to make it two just moments later before Spain hit back through Fermin Lopez to equalise.

The momentum had firmly shifted in favour of the Spanish at this point, and the Barcelona starlet was again on hand, netting his sixth goal of the tournament to give his side the lead.

Spain promptly pressed their advantage and a fabulous strike from Alex Baena made it 3-1 just minutes later seemingly putting the game to bed in the process.

Thierry Henry’s side appeared lethargic throughout the remainder of the first half, and were fortunate not to go even further behind as goalkeeper Guillaume Restes was forced into action on several occasions.

With the capacity crowd willing them on France grew into the game after the interval, and Olise caused chaos in the Spanish defence with his free-kick as the game approached its closing stages.

The driven cross looked made its way to Maghnes Akliouche who managed to get the slightest of touches to divert the ball beyond Arnau Tenas in the Spain goal.

France continued to push for an equaliser late on and were awarded for their efforts after the referee pointed to the spot after a VAR review following a foul by Benat Turrientes.

Jean-Philippe Mateta stepped up to take the stoppage-time spot kick and promptly sent the game to extra-time by cooly slotting his strike home to send the game into extra-time.

Both sides had their chances in the first-half of extra-time but Spain were clinical when it counted and Sergio Camello netted a chip from close range to restore their lead.

France threw everything they had in search of an equaliser and were punished in the closing seconds as Camello netted once more to secure gold.
