Sonakshi Sinha Wedding Live Updates: The date is finally here. Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot today, after years of keeping their relationship under wraps. The couple married in a civil ceremony at Sonakshi’s residence, which was attended only by their family and close friends. Sonakshi and Zaheer also shared first pics from their all-whote wedding.
The couple will host a party at the celeb-favourite restaurant Bastian in Mumbai. Before the celebrations on Sunday, the couple hosted an indoor party for friends and family on June 20 and a mehendi ceremony on June 21. The party saw Sonakshi’s parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, also in attendance.
Shatrughan’s presence at the party dismissed all the rumours that he was not happy with the union and was unlikely to not even attend the marriage ceremony. The gossip took steam when Shatrughan told Times Now that he was “waiting to be informed” about his daughter’s wedding and added, “All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (Nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents).”
Later, the veteran actor shut down the rumours of a rift in the family and said he would be present at the wedding. “I will be there at the wedding, certainly. Why shouldn’t I and why won’t I? Her happiness is my happiness and vice versa. She has every right to choose her partner and the other details of her wedding,” he told Zoom and added that Sonakshi and Zaheer “look very nice together”.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal kept their relationship intensely private initially, avoiding sharing pictures with each other and even getting papped. Zaheer made his film debut with Salman Khan-backed drama Notebook. According to reports, Zaheer and Sonakshi met each other at a party hosted by Salman, who had also launched the career of Sonakshi with his blockbuster Dabangg.
The couple then eventually worked in the 2022 comedy drama Double XL, co-starring Sonakshi’s friend Huma Qureshi. By the time Sonakshi and Zaheer did the film, they were already in a relationship. But it wasn’t until 2023 when they made their first public appearance as a couple at Aayush Sharma and Arpita Khan’s Eid bash.
Sonakshi and Zaheer soon started posting about each other on Instagram– from heartfelt birthday wishes, cheeky captions and special romantic pictures, which gave an insight into what the couple felt for each other.
While it isn’t sure who from the Hindi film industry has been invited for the wedding ceremony, Shatrughan Sinha’s brothers will be coming from America to join the celebrations. It is not yet known if Salman Khan, close to the couple, has been invited.
