BJP getting an MLC Berth and Somu Veerraju bagging it came as a huge disappointment for the TDP Cadre.
Somu Veerraju and his batch played the Opposition to the TDP in 2014-19 despite being a part of the then Chandrababu Naidu Government and then, between 2019 and 2024, they played to the tunes of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Somu Veerraju, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, GVL Narasimha Rao, and others opposed TDP tooth and nail. They tried to stall the alliance in 2014 and again in 2024.
They were the reason for the alliance falling apart in 2018. So, Somu Veerraju getting a cabinet berth is a huge disappointment for the TDP Cadre.

But Veerraju is now behaving as if he is a changed man.
Somu Veerraju said that he has a special connection with Chandrababu and it is similar to that between Modi and Chandrababu.

He gave an explanation to the media representatives clarifying that he is not a covert of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He clarified that that campaign is a misconception and he was not even acquainted with Jagan Mohan Reddy until he became the CM.
“I have a special connection with Chandrababu. Chandrababu had promised to give me a ministerial post when we contested as part of the alliance in 2014,” Veerraju said.
In fact, Somu Veerraju did not contest as an MLA at that time. Even though he got the Rajahmundry Rural chance, Akula Satyanarayana was given the ticket. However, later he got the MLC post.
Even then, he never spoke in favor of the alliance government. That is why TDP leaders accuse him of being a Jagan covert.
He also said that the campaign that he was against Amaravati was also false. He supported the capital.
Is this a real change or Veerraju is acting as if he is changed?
The conditions of 2014 and 2024 are different. Now the Central Government is also dependent on the TDP’s numbers. So, it is not possible for Veerraju to carryout the ‘Jagan Agenda’.
For that reason, we have seen him rushing to meet Chandrababu immediately after filing the nomination.
We do not know if he will be the same if the BJP was able to engineer any defections to gain a majority on its own.
But Veerraju will be under complete scrutiny.
