Meanwhile, one of Pa. Ranjith’s statements has sparked a huge social media debate and led to heavy trolling against him.

An X handle reported that Pa. Ranjith stated that untouchability has taken on a new form in modern times and drinking tea in a paper cup as an example of this new form of untouchability.
This statement did not go well with netizens, who brutally trolled Pa. Ranjith. The post received more than 600 comments and 800 quotes, with many people lashing out at him for his “paper cup theory.”

Criticizing Ranjith’s statement, one user wrote, “More untouchability ideas for this guy – banana leaves in hotels, not reusing tissue paper in toilets, throwing away used straws, use-and-throw gloves in hospitals.”
However, a few others pointed out that the statement was made during an old interview from three years ago. They stated that Ranjith was discussing how discrimination and inequality are often invisible.
They went on to argue that his statements have been manipulated, making him a target of this trolling.
People also raised suspicions about the timing of resurfacing this statement on social media, just a day before the release of Thangalaan. They doubted that it was done to spread negativity about Ranjith.
On the whole, this one “paper cup theory” has made Ranjith a target of brutal trolling by netizens today.
