Sitare Zameen Par’s Sensory-Friendly Screenings Impress Fans

Sitare Zameen Par is trying to be a film that stands out in theatres, and not just because of the film itself.

Recently, PVR INOX announced sensory-friendly screenings for the movie from July 4th to 6th, allowing individuals with disabilities to enjoy the film in a more comfortable and inclusive environment.

Aiming to create a truly inclusive movie-watching experience, they’ve planned special screenings for families and children with special needs.

To make the experience more accommodating, they’ve taken thoughtful steps such as not completely dimming the lights, lowering the volume, allowing free movement during the film, and encouraging talking or vocal reactions.

This initiative has received widespread praise, especially from families of individuals with special needs, as very few mainstream films or theatres have taken such steps to ensure accessibility and comfort.

In regular movie screenings, people with special needs are often shushed for speaking a little loudly, fidgeting, or taking a walk, things they often can’t help. Many families even avoid visiting theatres altogether because of this discomfort.

These sensory-friendly viewings offer a safe, welcoming space where everyone can enjoy the magic of cinema without fear of judgment, and that’s truly commendable.

Some fans have even suggested that such screenings should be held at least once a week, so individuals with special needs can regularly enjoy their favorite films and stars on the big screen.

If this becomes a regular practice, it would be a huge step forward for inclusivity in Indian cinema.
