KOCHI: Kerala police’s SIT will likely amend the FIR from “unnatural death” to “abetment of suicide” in the case of 14-year-old Class 9 student Mihir Ahammed, who killed himself on Jan 15 allegedly due to bullying and ragging at a private school in Kochi, sources said Monday. However, they did not disclose who would be charged.
Mihir’s mother Rajna PM alleged in her police compliant that her son was bullied and ragged by some students on campus and bus, physically assaulted, and subjected to humiliating acts of abuse after he moved to Global Public School in Nov 2024.
In response, Global Education Trust that runs the school maintained that it has a zero-tolerance stand on bullying and ragging, saying it does not condone or protect any student involved in such harmful behaviours. TNN
