Shocking Theft! NRI Woman Robbed of 20L on Train

A US-returned Indian woman had her bag containing ₹20 lakh stolen from a train in Uttar Pradesh. But a swift action from the Police led to the arrest of the thieves in record time!

Getting into the details, Alanka Tamiya, an NRI working in Washington DC, was traveling from Nizamuddin to Jhansi on the Sampark Kranti Express last month. When the train reached Mathura, a thief stole her bag from under her seat, which contained ₹20 lakh in cash and valuable items.

In a relatively fast response, The Railway Police busted a gang of seven suspects from Haryana and Delhi just after a month and recovered the stolen goods. While their arrest brings some relief it raises concern over the safety of train coaches and railway stations.

When traveling in public transport, the passenger should feel safe in their reserved seats. In fact, the lack of security is a major concern which leads to thousands of Indians deciding to leave the country and settle abroad.

The arrested individuals come from various locations in the Delhi-NCR area, hinting there might be a bigger racket running through this network. While the police should be commended for their quick response, stricter measures should be put in place to ensure safer travel.
