The former prime minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al Hamad Al Mubarak Al Sabah died on Saturday at the age of 82, according to Gulf News.
Born in 1942, Sheikh Jaber began his public service career, beginning in the Amiri Diwan as a controller of administrative and financial affairs.
He steadily rose through the ranks, as he took on important roles, such as director of administration, assistant undersecretary for administrative and financial affairs, and later the governor of Hawally and Ahmadi regions.
Sheikh Jaber held several key ministerial positions, including minister of social affairs and labour, and minister of information.
He later served as an advisor in the Emir’s office, further solidifying his influence in Kuwait’s governance.
In 2001, Sheikh Jaber was appointed deputy prime minister and minister of defence. He continued to serve in prominent government positions, including first deputy prime minister, minister of interior, and minister of defence in 2006, he was reappointed to these roles in subsequent administrations until 2011.
Sheikh Jaber was appointed Prime Minister of Kuwait in November 2011, a position he held until his resignation in 2019.
