In a recent interview when Nikhil Advani’s Independence Day release came under media’s questioning, Sharvari the lead star of the film gave a very vague response. Many believed that she was just shrugging off the responsibility from herself. Owing to this, we are reminded of Aamir Khan’s recent take on Laal Singh Chaddha’s box-office failure.
Vedaa competed with Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein with its release on 15 August. In the longer run, it has become evident that the film couldn’t do well, in spite of John Abraham’s action hero appeal. Neither did the critics have anything special to say about Sharvari’s performance. But Sharvari believes that whether things work or not is beyond her. This statement shows that she is clearly doing away with any responsibility for the project. Would her statement be the same if the film did well?

On the other hand, Aamir Khan recently took the entire responsibility for Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure onto himself. He said that his performance was lacking and did not connect with the masses. He is even willing to focus on a single project each year while providing opportunities for the newcomers to thrive. Bollywood lovers expect such sincerity from young actors even more so, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. We can only hope that Sharvari’s upcoming projects are made with the realisation of what was missing in her last performance, after all fans want dedicated roles that speak to them!
