The controversy is a constant companion in the great world of cinematic glamour, and the “Bad Girl,” a bold storyline that goes deeply into the world of a Brahmin girl’s life, too, is an example. The bold experiment in the storytelling has not gone well; in fact, it has attracted criticism from every possible quarter, especially those raising their eyebrows over its narrative due to a Brahmin protagonist. Amidst this lurid debate, actress Shanthi Priya now comes in as a unilateral saviour of the artistic vision.

But Shanthi Priya was not rattled by defamation and would be ever-forthright in defending the film. As she puts it, “Bad Girl” does not offend any particular community but intends to carry across a lot through its story.
“Art is a medium of expression, and cinema often reflects the complexities of society,” she stated. “Presenting the life of a Brahmin girl is about presenting raw, authentic characters that represent reality.”

She also hailed Kashyap and Vetrimaaran for being bold in putting forth social causes in cinema. “Even when bringing out inequalities, things too uncomfortable to digest, they never attack.
They bring to us a medium to introspect and understand, rather than being an attack on someone as per Shanthi Priya. “Bad Girl” has truly done its job to make people think and talk.
