Shankar’s Unreal Downfall: Rajamouli to Sundar C

After the postponement of Vidaamuyarchi, the Tamil audience had high hopes for Shankar’s Game Changer to be the undisputed Pongal winner. However, the film fell short of expectations, receiving a negative response.

Meanwhile, Sundar C’s long-delayed project Madha Gaja Raja unexpectedly entered the Pongal race and has been gaining surprisingly positive feedback. Many trade analysts have even dubbed it the first blockbuster of Tamil cinema this year.

This shift in audience interest has sparked a wave of trolling on social media, with many fans humorously comparing Shankar to Sundar C.

They pointed out that Kollywood’s pride, Shankar, was outshone by the cringe-worthy, outdated Madha Gaja Raja, a 12-year-old comedy that seemed to defeat Shankar’s high-budget spectacle.

Sundar C appears to be back in his prime phase, with his last two films emerging as major hits. On the other hand, Shankar’s recent outings like Game Changer and Indian 2 have failed to make any kind of impact, ending up as huge disappointments.

It is an unreal downfall for Shankar, who was once compared with legends like Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and SS Rajamouli, to now being compared with routine mass masala cringe directors like Sundar C.

The success of Madha Gaja Raja came as a surprise, as most had anticipated it to be outdated. However, the film’s comedy elements have resonated well with audiences, securing positive responses across the board.

Meanwhile, Game Changer’s box office collections in Tamil Nadu have taken a hit, with many viewers flocking to Madha Gaja Raja.

As a result, several theatres have opted to allot prime screening slots to Sundar C’s film.
