Shankar’s directorial franchise, Indian, has been rebooted into two parts, with Kamal Haasan playing the lead role.
While the first part was a huge success, the second installment, Indian 2, received a disastrous response at the box office.

This has led to anticipation on what will happen to Indian 3 which is almost ready with just a few portions and a song left to be shot.
In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Shankar finally addressed the reasons behind the delays and shared an important update on Indian 3.

The director revealed that work on Indian 3 will commence once his upcoming film Game Changer is released. He further mentioned that discussions about the film’s release date will take place after Game Changer hits theaters.
The release of Game Changer, however, has not been smooth. The producers of Indian 3 recently approached the Tamil Film Producers Council to stop the release of Game Changer, citing the unfinished work on Indian 3.

Despite these challenges, Shankar confirmed that Indian 3 is still slated for a regular theatrical release, dismissing earlier rumors that the film might skip theaters and go directly to OTT, especially due to the embarrassing response to Indian 2.
