SEVIS Crackdown Huge Update: F-1 Students Saved!

In a major win for F-1 students, three federal judges have issued Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs) on deportation orders linked to SEVIS terminations. This temporary but huge relief is a challenge to Trump’s tough immigration policies, which have targeted F-1 holders over decade-old cases.

The TROs were granted in three different US courts. One case involved a student in Brooklyn who lost their F-1 status because he broke traffic rules 10 years ago!

Attorney Steven Brown, working with Banias Law and Reddy Neumann Brown PC, reported that the judge has ordered a status conference and issued a TRO to stop the deportation. Additional hearings are set for April 14 and 15, with more updates expected.

The immigration attorneys have criticized these terminations, calling them politically driven. A win for even a single F-1 student at any US court will set a precedence for more cases that will follow.

This hearing will restore the faith of thousands of students in America, that only one person sitting at the top can’t change the system overnight and throw them out without any solid reason.

Many students are still under stress with the ongoing immigration crackdown. While these TROs offer temporary relief, the courts also need to focus on the larger issue of mass visa cancellations.
