Schoolgirl’s Exam Turns Into Bus Race

A schoolgirl in Tamil Nadu’s Tirupattur district was forced to run behind a government bus that failed to stop at the designated stop, delaying her arrival at the exam center. The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral, prompting swift action from transport authorities.

The girl was waiting at the Kothakottai bus stop around 8 a.m., intending to reach Nimmiyambattu Government Higher Secondary School, three kilometers away, for her board exam. Despite her visible attempts to signal the driver, the Tirupattur-Alangayam bus did not stop, forcing her to chase it. She eventually managed to board but only after significant effort and risk.

Following public outrage, the transport department suspended driver Muniraj, a permanent employee, and dismissed conductor Ashok Kumar, who was on a contract basis. Many questioned the reliability of public transport, especially during critical times like exam season.

Netizens expressed mixed reactions. Some defended the bus crew, arguing that the vehicle had eventually stopped, while others criticized the frequent recklessness of bus drivers in Tamil Nadu. One user lamented, “Even after 80 years of independence, such incidents still happen.”
