JE Technology Desk: Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Unpacked event, where the company is expected to unveil the next iteration of its foldable phones – the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 smartphones will take place in the last week of July. The event will take place in Seoul, South Korea. And in the latest set of reveals, a report claims the phones will launch globally in a separate event.
According to an exclusive MySmartPrice report, the company will host a separate launch event in the United States and Canada in August. The speculated date in the report is the 11th of the eighth month. This could be slightly over two weeks later than the Seoul event. The main highlights at the event will be the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5.
We could also witness the launch of the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets at the event. As per media reports, the South Korean event is likely scheduled on July 26.
“Having Unpacked in Seoul is significant because it is a city that has emerged as an emerging epicentre of innovation and culture, as well as the foldable category,” said TM Roh, Samsung’s president and head of MX Business, in the press release of Samsung’s Seoul event announcement.
The upcoming foldables could be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and run on OneUI 5.1 based on Android 13.
As for other upcoming launches in the foldable market, OnePlus will likely launch the OnePlus Fold in August this year. Motorola has already teased an India debut of the Motorola Razr clamshell phone.
