Ram Gopal Varma has recently shared his opinion on how South films are doing better compared to Bollywood films. In a recent interview, RGV said that Bollywood is unable to make something like Pushpa 2: The Rule because none of the filmmakers are capable of doing that.

RGV clarified that people on both sides are the same and only their films are different. He said that the trend of remakes is not new in Bollywood since it has been happening in the Hindi film industry since the ‘70s and ‘80s.

The director also recalled how the music department witnessed improvement with time and there was a time when music was a priority in any film, following which the genre of action was completely ignored, leading to films such as Maine Pyar Kiya and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

RGV stated that the South film industry has been the same until today and they focus on mass entertainers for most of the time, helping them to build an emotional connection with the audience.

Comparing the above-mentioned point, RGV said that Bollywood has certain directors who are more interested in foreign cinema and they mostly speak in English while living in places such as Bandra. However, the directors in the South are still “rooted in their culture.”

Although RGV has been involved in a few controversies over the years, the things that he has said in the interview are not wrong. The condition of Bollywood has completely changed after the COVID-19 pandemic and the producers are hardly making any mass entertainers.
