Hundred Anna Canteens across seventeen districts have become operational from August 16th. On Day 1, around 93,000 people had their meal on the first day.

Anna Canteens Scheme was initially launched in 2018 but Jagan Mohan Reddy Government scrapped it after coming to power.

For the five years of Jagan’s rule, there were no canteens serving food to the poor.

Usually, every welfare scheme will have resistance from certain sections. But then, Anna Canteens scheme is easily the most popular and public-supported scheme as it is intended to feed the poor people.

There is no coverage of these Canteens’ inauguration on the Main Page. In fact, there is no mention anywhere but then, Sakshi chose to spew venom in district papers.

For instance, the Vijayawada edition has Sakshi writing about the renovation costs. On average, the Anna Canteens were repaired at a cost of 11 Lakh rupees. Sakshi wrote as if there was a scam in the repairs.

But then, it safely ignores the fact that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s misrule and neglect are the reasons for the need for the repairs in the first place.

And then, in the Rayalaseema edition, Sakshi writes stories based on trivial issues.

Sakshi published an article saying that Idlies served in Madanapalli are not soft and the Pooris are oily.

And then, it writes Lunch started one hour late in Anantapur.

These are the cock and bull stories Sakshi writes ignoring the greater good of the scheme.

The Media house is only bothered about political agenda and does not even have the common sense to give time so that the food supplier can correct the initial issues.

Even big restaurants suffer small problems in the initial weeks of their launch. But Sakshi criticizes the Government that serves food to the needy at highly subsidized rates. This attitude is the reason for the YSR Congress’s outright rejection in the recent election.
