Saif Loses 15000 Cr Ancestral Property in Madhya Pradesh Court

In a major legal blow to Saif Ali Khan, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has overturned a 25-year-old verdict that upheld his family’s claim over ancestral properties.

For the unversed, this vast empire is worth almost Rs. 15,000 crore. It includes Saif’s childhood residence, Flag Staff House.

Now, everything has been classified as Enemy Property. The historic judgement was passed after a long-standing dispute involving heirs of Nawab Hamidullah Khan of Bhopal.

The wealth was originally inherited by Sajida Sultan, Saif’s great-grandmother, after her sister Abida migrated to Pakistan.

However, other heirs also contested this division, citing Muslim Personal Law, and challenged the 2000 ruling that favoured Sajida’s descendants, namely Saif, Soha, Saba, and their mother Sharmila Tagore.

Justice Sanjay Dwivedi of the MP High Court called out the trial court’s reliance on an overruled Supreme Court judgment. He also ordered a fresh trial to allow new evidence and asked the lower court to resolve the matter within a year.

This ruling now questions the Pataudi family’s legal ownership and reopens a complex inheritance battle which also involves personal rivalries.

While Saif Ali Khan and his family are yet to comment on the update, there’s one thing for sure that the royal family has lost a great deal of property following the recent judgement.
