The Chief Minister of Telangana has presented the Caste census in a special session of Assembly today. He said it was executed better than the population survey and would be used to allocate welfare policies.
The CM presented it after full approval of the Cabinet to give it legality. A decision was taken to accord due respect to BCs who constituted 56% of the total 3.70 crore population of the state.

Revanth Reddy went on to say that Rahul Gandhi promised a caste-based census during Bharat Jodo Yatra and the Telangana government fulfilled the promise.
He shared that surveys in Karnataka and Bihar were studied and they spoke to varied stakeholders on management procedures.

The survey was conducted for 50 days in the state costing Rs 160 crore, the CM said. Every 150 houses were taken as a unit and the enumerators went to 10 houses each day, revealed Reddy.
He said 66.39 lakh families in villages and 45.15 lakh families in towns were covered for census.
