Si breaks down when he reaches 29 points in the frame and now O’Sullivan is back in with a chance to do some damage. These are the sort of situations he normally thrives in.

Higgins breaks off and leaves Williams a long red which he duly smashes in. Nice pot. The break quickly breaks down though, so just the 8 points for the Welshman.

O’Sullivan goes into the pack of reds but the split isn’t great. He then tries a reckless double to the right middle and misses it – that should embolden Si. The Rocket losing patience slightly as we enter the final frame of the session.

Someway, somehow the Chinese cueman has to find a way to win this fame. He pulls out a spectacular pot to right middle to get a chance. Can Si get the job done?

Higgins smacks a pot into the left corner, across the table and fashions another chance for himself to tidy this frame up.

A few pots and Williams now needs snookers. Every comeback has to start somewhere and John Higgins wins the frame to close the gap to three at 12-9

Credit where it’s due, Si JIahui has battled in this session. It takes him a couple of attempts but breaks of 52 and 45 mean he takes the frame.

Si Jiahui wins frame 15 and narrows the deficit to three frames.

Suddenly this final frame of the session is huge. If Si wins it, closes to 9-7 ahead of this evening, then it’s game on.

Back after the mid-session interval and Higgins is in the last-chance saloon. He gets in first though and is working with all blacks.

Gets to 41, takes on a really tricky black to right middle and gets it.

Higgins has a maximum on his mind but it’s another thin cut on the seventh black. And it jaws out! Chance eludes him and he exits the table 49 points up

Good work by Si to grind away, keep pulling out the pots and get over the line with this break.

Si Jiahui wins frame 14 and closes the gap to 9-5.

Two frames left in this session – surely Si has to win them both to stand a legitimate chance of winning this match when they return this evening?

Both men with chances early in frame 14 but eventually Si earns a real opportunity to do some damage. He has to convert here and is trucking along nicely as his lead reaches 42-5.

Plenty of reds there for the taking.

That could be curtains for John Higgins. He leaves Williams in amongst them and from there, the Welshman can make the clearance to win the frame.

Mark Williams takes frame 20 and he’s now just one from victory at 12-8.

That was a must-win frame for Higgins and he lost it. He now needs to win all five remaining frames. Some serious thinking to do at the mid-session interval.
