- Only the World Cup-bound players are expected to be named in the team
After their success in the 2023 Asia Cup, India will lock horns with Australia in a three-match ODI series, starting September 22. It will be the final rehearsal for both teams before the start of the 2023 World Cup. The series will be of utmost importance for Australia as they will get to play in the host nation of the upcoming ICC event.
India have already announced their World Cup squad but the selectors didn’t name the squad for the ODI series against Australia. There might not be even one change and only the World Cup-bound players are likely to be named in the squad for the Australia series. Here’s a look at the predicted squad for 3 ODIs –
Openers
Middle-order
Wicketkeepers Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul complete the middle-order. There’s no doubt that Rahul is the first-choice wicketkeeper, which means that Kishan will have to warm the bench if Iyer bats at number 4.
Sanju Samson is in the scheme of things for the World Cup but he will only get a call-up if any player gets ruled out. He travelled to SL as a reserve player for Rahul.
