It is a very rare case scenario when a Malayalam star overtakes a major part of a Hindi OTT web series, this very thing happened with the recently released web series “Kankhujara”.
Rohan Mathew, a prominent name in the Malayalam cinema stepped into the Hindi OTT through “Kankhujara”, sharing screen space with Mohit Raina who is already an established face in the Hindi industry.

Rohan not only holds his own but, in many scenes, clearly outshines his co-star, his multilayered character deeply resonated with the audience where Raina’s character seemed as a one toned character.
Raina’s performance lacks the intensity and conviction that Mathew effortlessly brings, it is not only about the language it is about the screen presence which Mathew owns.

Mathew’s performance in “Kankhujara” is widely appreciated by the people who have actually watching the series. Mohit Raina shines less in front of the phenomenal performance of Rohan Mathew.
But the funny thing is there is no such buzz about “Kankhujara”, people who are actually watching it they are praising the series, but there is no such buzz about this particular series which practically got 6.8 rating from IMDb.

Why this contrast? Where the very mediocre series also gets huge recognization? Why “Kankhujara” is not getting that much appreciation, is it because the leading face is not a so called known face?
The streaming giant’s promotional team appears to have sleepwalked through its campaign, if there was one at all.
The reason behind the lack of promotion of “Kankhujara” can be anything. Is it because the leading star is not a familiar Hindi face? Is it because the story dares to break away from formulaic drama? Or is it just poor internal planning?
The reason can be anything Rohan Mathew deserved better. The series deserved better. And audiences deserved to know.
