With the Nigel Twiston-Davies stable still in good form, MASTER CHEWY (Ascot 2.05, nb) looks capable of giving weight to all of his rivals off the back of an impressive novice chase campaign last season.
The progressive seven- year-old was only beaten a head at Aintree in a Grade One last season and can defy top weight with Tom Bellamy retaining the ride. Later on, HIGHSTAKESPLAYER (Ascot 3.45, nap) looks to hold strong claims with conditions to suit at Ascot. Victorious in all four of his chase starts last season when going right- handed, he was a cosy winner at Kempton in his last race in April, off a mark of 130.
A 5lb rise on Saturday underestimates him and he can make a winning reappearance for trainer Tom Lacey.
