Revealed: The Rock’s WrestleMania plans following his shock WWE return – and what WWE will do with Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes as a result

  • The Rock returned on Saturday night after several moths away from company
  • He is expected to do battle with Reigns, who is his real-life cousin, in the future
  • They teamed before Reigns’ return, with Reigns then teaming with Cody Rhodes

The Rock’s plans for WrestleMania have been reportedly been revealed following his shock return to WWE at the weekend.

The veteran is one of the most iconic WWE stars of all time and returned to the company at Bad Blood on Saturday night following the main event, which featured the likes of Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.

Reigns and Rhodes teamed up in the main event to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in the latest chapter in the Bloodline story, which also saw the two do battle at WrestleMania.

Back at ‘Mania, The Rock teamed with Reigns, who is his real-life cousin, while Sikoa, who is also Reigns’ cousin, was alongside the duo but has been feuding with Reigns for a number of months.

With the immediate future unclear, the potential plans for next year’s WrestleMania have now been revealed, with the report explaining what is currently in place for Reigns and The Rock.

A report during a WrestleVotes Q and A on Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass suggested: ‘My thought is it signifies that’s where we’re going for WrestleMania. One, two, three, as in a triple threat match.

‘I can tell you that’s on the table. I don’t know for sure if it’s been finalised in any way. It’s October. I doubt it’s been finalised, but that idea has been floated and I think it makes the most sense for the company to get those three guys in the ring.’

There were originally plans for The Rock and Reigns to do battle at this year’s ‘Mania but WWE pivoted and ran Reigns versus Rhodes after fan backlash.

Reigns and The Rock then competed as a tag team on night one instead, beating Rhodes and Seth Rollins before Rhodes beat Reigns on night two.

The Rock then left to work in Hollywood in the immediate aftermath of the event, with Reigns also not seen since ‘Mania before his return at SummerSlam in August.

The Rock’s appearance at Bad Blood on Saturday was brief, and he did not engage with Rhodes or Reigns, meaning it is currently unclear whether he will be siding with the duo or not.

It is, however, expected that he will remain a villainous character and go against his real-life cousin, who has been more of a babyface – ‘good’ – character since his return.

All three men are expected to be on SmackDown on Friday night, with Rhodes the current WWE champion.
