Renuka Shahane and Ashutosh Rana dated each other for three years before tying the knot in 2001. The actor couple, who is blessed with two sons, Shauryaman and Satyendra, have always been comfortable in talking about their love story and married life publicly. While appearing on the second episode of Gauahar Khan’s podcast show MaaNoranjan with Gauahar Khan on Youtube recently, Renuka opened up about her relationship and marriage with her husband. She also revealed that Rana only asked her hand for marriage after his spiritual guru advised him to do so.
During the conversation, the Circus actor shared that while she and Ashutosh Rana were in a relationship back then, it was difficult to take the huge step of getting married at the peak of their careers. “Although, Rana ji and I are very much in love with each other, we were also happy with our own independent lives. And, marriage is quite a scary proposition. Being in the public eye and then two of us getting married at the peak of our careers can be difficult. One feels that nothing should go wrong, not just in the relationship, but even when you are into the marriage, you don’t want anything bad to happen,” she reflected.
Renuka revealed that the Loveyapa actor married her because his guru, unaware of their relationship, felt she was the right girl for him. “The only reason why Rana ji got married to me was because of his spiritual guru, he told him to. While we were dating, his guruji told him that I have chosen a bahu for you. He was scared, who is this person? He didn’t know that guruji was talking about me only. Guruji said that she is a good girl, you should ask for her hand,” she said.
The actor added, “Rana ji was clueless, but he actually did tell this to my mother. My mom was very shocked. She said, ‘Guruji ne bataaya islie aap karahe hain ya aapko sach mein karni hai (You are marrying her because guruji said so or you really want to marry her)?’”
Explaining the reason behind saying yes to him for the wedding, Renuka shared, “But, I got married only because I wanted kids. I was very happy because my idea of having a stable family background for my kids was very clear in my head. Rana ji being a very family oriented person, you want the father of your child to be like that.”
On the work front, Ashutosh Rana was last seen in Loveyapa, with Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, while Renuka Shahane last starred in the Marathi film Devmanus.
