The third-placed team in the ongoing Big Bash League, Melbourne Renegades will challenge the last-time finalists, Sydney Sixers on December 30 at Simonds Stadium in Geelong. The two teams last faced a couple of days back where the Sixers emerged victorious as they defeated the Renegades by 34 runs.
In the match, stumper-batter Josh Phillipe once again wreaked havoc and smashed 55 runs to help the team put 149 on the board after 20 overs. However, other than Philippe, no other batter could help the team take advantage of a decent start. Bowlers, however, were in tremendous form. Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh tried to take control of the situation but soon after their dismissal, the team collapsed and was bundled for 115 runs. Even though Mujeeb picked up three wickets, collectively, their performance was below average, to say the least.
