Realme has added a new member to its new 10 series of Android smartphones. The 10s may be its most affordable variant thus far, yet offers 5G with its Dimensity 810 SoC. It is paired to 8GB of RAM as standard, and drives a 6.6-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz touch-sampling rate.

As such, this new release might serve to aggravate some current owners of the Realme 10, which starts at 4GB and without 5G for more money. The 2 devices even look alike, albeit with different colorways; the OEM having gone for “Streamer” Blue or “Crystal” Black in this newer model.

Then again, the 10s’ 1080p display is LCD as opposed to AMOLED in the 10, and has a water-drop notch and side-mounted fingerprint reader that look distinctly old-school by comparison. It does have a 5,000mAh battery, albeit with slower 33W charging.

The new budget option does have a 50MP main rear camera (as this seems to be a Realme 10-series hallmark); however, it is lacks the new AI Camera branding of the 10, and may, thus, be a last-gen shooter.

The 10s ships with Realme UI 3.0, whereas buyers of its Pro counterparts get the upgraded 4.0 version based on Android 13 out of the box. Finally, it retains a 3.5mm jack, even coming with free wired earphones when bought through its first-party store page for now.

The 10s can now be ordered through channels such as JD.com and Realme itself in China only for now, starting at just 1,099 yuan (~US$157) with 128GB of internal storage or 1,299 yuan (~US$186) for a top-end 256GB SKU.

Meanwhile, the Realme 10 Pro and Pro+ are now available to buy in India via Amazon.
